Winter-bouldering & first skiing in Norge

When it is cold, the wind pauses and the sun is shining, then it's time for winter-bouldering at Vesterøya! Unfortunately, most of the rock was pitsche-patsche wet and moist, but we had enough fun posing for the awesome shadow-boulderer. :)

The weekend afterwards it was as cold, but also windy, so we decided to give Norefjell another go. Last time there wasn't enough snow for skiing, but this time there was! With only 6 hours of daylight our tour was short. However, intense enough to cause some sore muscles. Seems like we have to do a bit of training before we spend a full week skiing in the alps :)

Første snø i Frognerparken

Once more some photos from my favorite photo locations in Oslo: Frognerparken and Vestre gravlund. This time no sun and no color, but only grey mist and a thin and smooth layer of snow... .

Sol og snø

Sol og snø, sun and snow, Sonne und Schnee!! So scheeeee!!
Just about a month after I photographed the beautiful autumn colors, the main color in Oslo has changed to grey and grey and grey.
Hungry for sun, we checked the usually not very reliable yr.no weather report this Saturday morning and just drove to the nearest place with sun forecast. It turned out to be Norefjell, one of the nearest ski areas around Oslo. We packed skis and hiking boots, but once we arrived we saw that it wasn't enough snow yet for serious skiing. Also, the official skiing season has not yet started so the area was astonishingly deserted, but just lovely colored in white and blue - the colors of the snow and the sun. For once yr.no was right.
We tied our hiking boots, packed a thermos with warm tea, sandwiches, gaiters for deeper snow, beanies and sunglasses and walked up towards Norefjell. Deeper snow at the ridge slowed us down, but we made it all the way up to the top of Augunshaug at 1341 m, just after noon - when the sun was still more then a hand-width above the horizon.
We so much enjoyed the sun and hope snow and sun is soon also arriving in Oslo to save us from this November-grey. But until then, we have to look at the photos...
