Micha and me are mobile again! After my VW Golf "Sebestschn", our Toyota Hiace "Nightfury", our Mazda Demio "Demio", now followed the Skoda Yeti "Yeti". We're getting uncreative with our names, I know ;) Yeti is still a youngster and eager to get out and explore the world. So we gave him this pleasure and drove with him last sunday to Fredrikstad, a city about 100 km south-east of Oslo.

Fredrikstad is one of the best-preserved and prettiest fortress towns in Scandinavia. Well, this is according to the LonelyPlanet guidebook and some pictures on Wikipedia - when we were there of course it was raining, grey, windy and cold. Nevertheless, the town was quite nice and at least we were absolutely the only tourists in "gamlebyen" - the old part of town.

Since Fredrikstad is already quite close to the Swedish border, we afterwards did what many Norwegian people do on a boring sunday - drive to Sweden for cheap shopping! Now this is funny, since I remember Sweden to be one of the most expensive countries I've ever been. Well, we almost freaked out in the supermarket because of the cheap prices! Beer for a third of the Norwegian price, cheese for almost nothing, milk is also about half the price compared to Norway... and this was still "expensive border shopping". I guess, we will do that more often from now on... . ;)
This weekend though, we did a similar tour but not to Sweden. Instead we chose the other direction and went for a cruise to Hønefoss, a bit north-west of Oslo. This town is not really worth a visit but we enjoyed the scenery along the way, the forests and fjords. We also passed by Utøya, the island where the 2011 attack happened.

Now we hope for spring and summer and instead of rainy cruise-tours I will hopefully soon post about sunny-sunday hikes!
We had a first glimpse of spring this Saturday morning, where 8°C and sun allowed for a balcony breakfast in our new flat.
